At some point during Mongoloid evolution from Polynesoids in Northeast Asia between 40,000 and 25,000 years ago a nonsynonymous T → C transition mutation occurred in the coding region of the EDAR gene on chromosome 2. This mutation resulted in Sinodonty, stiff hair, small breasts, and higher sweat gland density, and it was driven to high frequency in the incipient Mongoloids by sexual selection.
